Yeah, I tasted the beer after I tested the FG, it was delicious. Tasted just like a young stout should taste. My concern is really, at this point assuming the original reading was off...What could cause that excepting the DFO of course? I'm kind of stumped. And your math is correct, I noticed it aft...

Is there an easy way to check the alcohol of the finished product assuming the OG was not taken (or in this case completely incorrect)? I have been taking a sample after I add the wort to the primary and add water to bring the volume to 5 gallons. I mix it well then use my racking cane to siphon out...

John, you had it right, the OG was 1.036 and the FG 1.022. It is the OG that concerns me, I goofed on the pic though, sorry for the confusion. I'm think that the FG is ok...
1.95% abv? Sounds low. It's the OG that seems screwy to me.

I ab brewing about 2.25 galons in a stainless steel pot. I leave nothing behind in the pot, and nothing sticks to my copper wort chiller. I strain through the 10q funnel I bought from you constantly clearing the fine screen every 1/2 second (no joke, the screen catches everything!)right into my prim...

John,
Well...it's not the hydrometer, it reads 1.000 at 70 degrees. What else could cause this issue? I am pretty confident that the wort was mixed well prior to my sampling.
Thanks again.

Yep, I filled it up tp 5 galons, though it could be a bit less (I added some water to make up for the water absorbed by the grains and Oameal). Other than that, everything could be normal. FWIW, most of my recent brews have had OG's too low as well. I wonder if my hydrometer could be bad? I've never...

OG for G&G Oatmeal Stout

I jujst brewed a G&G Oatmeal stout that looks and smells great, but the fermentation was really fast. I looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find what OG I was looking for. Can anyone give me a hand? Mo OG was 1.036 at 74 degrees. I may have a touch less than 5 gal as the grains and oats soake...
