[b]I have a pack of yeast in the fridge and some grain in a bag room temp.
How long have I got before it gets old?

Cheers

The bag of grain is probably good for 6 months if kept dry. If the yeast is in the dry form, it can last at least a year in the fridge. The liquid yeast is only good for about 4 months in the fridge.

thanks!

Steve,
I've used grain that is well over a year old without any trouble, I usually get it whole and crush it myself though. Also, I've used a smackpack that was 39 months past is use by date with no ill effects. The older theyeast gets the longer you need to plan to step up a starter. It took the yeast about 10 days to swell the smackpack, then I made a starter from there. The beer was fine.

Same here. I once used a liquid smack pack that was over two years old. I made two starters to build it up but no ill effects.
