I have used it on beer with good results. I recommend the course pad (depending on the beer). If you try to run a full bodied beer through the med or fine, it will take out some body.

If you filter, you will have to add yeast back to the batch if you are naturally carbonating in the bottle. If you are kegging and force carbonating, it is no problem.

Sounds good. It has worked well for me, especially if I am trying to rush a batch.

Do I need to purchase new yeast to put back in when I filter my beer and then let sit for the 3-5 days....??

I would let the beer clear in the secondary, then filter it. Then, just before bottling, add fresh yeast and the priming solution and then bottle. You may not need to filter it at all unless it won't clear on it's own or you are trying to hurry a batch along.
