Burton on Trent Water

Postby bigkev » Sat Sep 03, 2005 7:15 am

I see that there is a new additive to mimick the mineral content of Burton on Trent water. I am just wondering, if this additive goes in spring water, and acts as a corrective to "fix" the water so it is like the Burton water, or do you add it to Distilled water, and since there is nothing in that kind of water, it completely mimicks Burton water. I was thinking of getting some additive, then this question hit me. Thank You.

I am not familiar with this new product. I would assume that it would have to be added to distilled or RO water. Otherwise, some assumption of the mineral content of 'spring' water would have to be made and it would be difficult to predict what 'kind' of water one would end up with.

Adding the following to distilled water will mimic Burton on Trent water:

3.1 grams/gal of gypsum- caso4
1.7 grams/gal of epsom salts- mgs04
.2 grams/gal canning salt- nacl
.3 grams/gal baking soda- nahc03
.5 grams/gal chalk- cac03
