Apple wine bubbly and foamy

Postby dxk3355 » Wed Jul 02, 2008 12:42 am

I'm making a batch of apple wine from fresh apples using the Jack Keller APPLE WINE (1) recipe . I've gotten past the primary fermentation and I have it in 1 gallon jugs with airlocks on top and I am waiting for it to clear. However the two are showing tiny bubbles and one still has bubble coming out the airlock. You can see these bubbles in the photos below. There is also that layer of foam on top. I don't know if that's a problem, it's been there since the day after I transferred to the jugs.

Should I be worried about this?

Nothing to worry about. It just needs more time to finish the fermentation. I would give them another two weeks to finish out the ferment. Then, rack to clean jugs and give them time to clear (1-3 months).

thanks!
