An Auto Siphon is the easiest way to rack or transfer your wine must or beer wort from one container to another. Grape and Granary carries several auto siphons so you can transfer your beer or wine from any size container to another (including 1 gallon jugs all the way to large 6.5 gallon glass carboys).
Choosing the right size auto siphon for your home brewing setup is easy. For most brewers, the standard 3/8 inch auto siphon is the correct choice for most brew sizes. However, for larger batches and faster racking, the 1/2 inch auto siphon is the better choice. For working with smaller 1 gallon batches, stick with the Gallon Jug Auto Siphon that works perfectly for one gallon batches.
3/8" OD siphon starter. One of the best ways to start a siphon. No more sucking on siphon hoses! For carboys, gallon jugs and pails. Requires a 5 foot piece of 5/16" ID flexible tubing (our catalog number RB02). The plunger on the racking tube starts the siphon as you push it into the long cylinder. One of our favorite products!
Approx length is 24 inches.
Siphon clamp not included.
Look Ma, no hands!! Review by Jeff
I have kept my process reasonably simple, minimizing the single points of failure. So nothing dependent on electricity, such as a pump. In my early brewing days I transferred using the basic ways to effect a crude siphon, but this is so much easier and less subject to contamination. I began using this several years ago, then on my last batch it would no longer provide suction, seal gave out after years of reliable use. I was instantly reminded what a pain it is to siphon the old way. I ordered another the same day. Inexpensive, clean and hands-free once started. Highly recommended. Get the bucket clip too!
