Honey

Mead is a wine made from honey, water, yeast and whatever fruit flavoring or brewing spices the brewer chooses to add. One of the most important ingredients in mead however is the honey. Honey provides the sugar in the must for the yeast to consume to produce the desired byproduct – alcohol. The quality of honey that you use can largely impact how your final product turns out, after all, by volume it is the primary ingredient besides water. Generally speaking the more flavorful the honey (e.g. Orange Blossom, Mesquite) the more flavorful the mead. Check out our selection of local honey for your next batch of mead.
